Kemp, Nejedlo earn All-State hockey honors

ond du Lac High School senior hockey player Brian Kemp was named first team All- State by the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association on Friday.

The senior defenseman played varsity all four years and was an anchor on last year's state runner-up team.

This year he was second on the team with 28 points and led the team with 20 assists.

He was honorable mention last year as a junior, and Fondy has had at least one representative on the 24-man first team for the past five seasons.

The Fond du Lac/Waupun girls hockey team also had a first-team All-State player. Sophomore Katherine Nejedlo scored 47 goals and assisted on another 31 WarBird tallies this past season.

Nejedlo was one of three forwards on the first team.

Tucker Reimer, the Fondy boys team's other starting defenseman, was given honorable mention by the WHCA after an 18-point campaign.

Waupun had two honorable mention players. The Warriors' defenseman Shawn Montsma and goalie Kyle Miller were both honorable mention.

Miller averaged 34 saves per game and 2.80 goals allowed with a .927 save percentage as he carried Waupun to second place in the Badgerland North. Montsma had 15 goals and 31 assists.

Green Bay Notre Dame's Max McCormick was named the state's "Mr. Hockey" for leading the Tritons to State with 34 goals and 37 assists.

Tanis Klingler of the St. Croix Valley Fusion was named "Ms. Hockey" after leading her team to a state title.
